Into the Unknown

What a time we're living in at the moment. It feels pretty surreal doesn't it?

I don't know about you, but in this time I've experienced a mixture of emotions; of sadness regarding the circumstances, anxiety because of the fear of the unknown and confusion as to how this affects everything we know and love. But in the midst of all those feelings, I've also felt a bit of positivity. Why you may ask? Because despite these circumstances, I feel it opens up a lot of opportunities for us. Opportunities to show love to our neighbours, to those who are more vulnerable. To make the effort to communicate with loved ones that we can't see so easily now. But more importantly, to lean in to God and trust that despite the circumstances, he is still good.

In this time it is so easy to feel scared or anxious. It's the fear of the unknown; none of us know how this situation will go because quite simply none of us have experienced anything like this. But I just want to encourage you by saying that in this time, the enemy can very easily make you question where God is in this all. I'm just going to re share this quote which I actually included in my last post. It's spoken to me so many times over the past few years and it's really brought me some comfort in the past few weeks. It reads:

"When you hit hard times, when your weakness is exposed, be ready for the enemy to whisper in your ear, 'where is your God now?' and be ready to respond, "He is where he has been and always will be- with me in power, glory and grace."- Paul Tripp.

We do not need to be afraid, and we do not need to be discouraged. Why? Because God is with us. Every step of the way. He doesn't leave our side, he stands by us and goes before us. So when you feel anxiety rising up inside of you, rest in the fact that your father is with you and he loves you. He doesn't want you to be afraid, for we are not called to have the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7

This whole situation isn't a surprise to God. He knew this was going to happen, for Psalm 139:16 reads:

'...Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed." - Psalm 139:16

What are a few things I can do in this time?

I think one of the biggest things you can do right now is pray. For this situation, for the world, for healing, for the people around you- those you know and those you don't. Never underestimate the power of prayer; God listens to them and he is faithful. Make a list of things to pray for (because there is so much!) and just take time to pray for each thing.

Be Still

If you're isolating, or if you're doing a wonderful job of going out to work still, whatever your circumstance is I think it's important to find time to be still. Just rest in the presence of God. I think that's so important because when you do so he really gives you a sense of peace.

Be Present (even if it's not always physically!)

Even though it's important for some to isolate, make sure to still check in with those around you. If you can't see them physically, make time to FaceTime the group chat, message a friend to check how they're doing, be available. Not everyone finds isolating easy and sometimes we can feel lonely, so make sure you're checking up on those around you- and yourself!

Trust in God

So when it feels as if the world is in total chaos, God is in complete control. He knows the outcome of this all and you can rest in the fact that he is in control. He's bigger than this whole situation, and for Him nothing is impossible. So lean in on him. Look to the one who is good and fix your eyes on him. Let him fill you with his peace.

I can imagine your timeline is full of posts abut COVID-19, i'm going to try to do as much blogging I can over the next few weeks. Just to bring a little bit of positivity and a bit of encouragement. Because remember...we're all in this together ;)

I've written out a schedule of blog posts that I'm excited to share with you. If there's anything you'd particularly like to see on the blog PLEASE let me know! :) I'm also working on some guest posts too from some people that I really love and who inspire me the most.
